Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist Ref: V222 Band 8b: £45,254 - £55,945 pa Location: Kingsley House, Gillingham
Specialising in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), you will be managing and providing clinical leadership for our specialist service covering the three community mental health teams for people with severe and enduring mental health problems. You will be managing two other specialist posts in the cognitive behavioural therapy service and will be developing individual and group based approaches for people with anxiety and depression. An interest in Mindfulness based approaches would be an advantage. In addition to a doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and substantial clinical experience, you will need to show evidence of having achieved (or nearly achieved) BABCP accreditation in CBT and will have good expertise of supervision within this framework.
Basic Grade or Senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Psychotherapist specialising in Systemic Family Therapy Ref: V225 Band 7: £30,460 - £40,157 pa or Band 8a: £38,851 - £46,621 pa depending on experience Location: Kingsley House, Gillingham
Developing systemic thinking and therapy within our service, you will be directly managed by a systemic psychotherapist and together you will develop this approach particularly for families with a relative with psychoses and manic depression. You will be working within two CMHTs and spend one day a week with the Crisis Home Treatment Service. You will have plenty of scope and backing to develop your own practice, whilst providing a highly professional service to the community. Consultation and teaching to staff in the multi-disciplinary teams will be an expectation. To succeed, you will need a graduate mental health qualification or equivalent and a post-graduate training in Systemic Psychotherapy to MSc level, as well as being UKCP registered. It is also important that you have substantial experience of working within the field of Adult Mental Health to be able to work with people suffering severe and enduring mental health difficulties. It is expected that you remain part of an active professional organisation such as AFT. If applying as a basic grade clinical or counselling psychologist, you will have had some training in the model but you will have the interest and willingness to commence training for these qualifications. Focusing on the patient can often mean looking at the wider picture. At Kent & Medway NHS Social Care Partnership Trust, we believe in offering high quality face-to-face care, but we also expect our psychological practitioners to contribute to the development of the service. The Trust provides a full range of mental health and other services to 1.6 million people across Kent and Medway.
The Psychological Therapy Service in Medway is committed to providing support and excellent supervision and to developing its staff. In return, for the right candidate, you can expect flexible working hours and solid administrative support. Our service has good links with the Christchurch Canterbury University Doctoral Training Course in Clinical Psychology based at David Salomon’s House to which it regularly provides clinical placements to clinical psychologists in training.
