Rampton Hospital is one of three high security hospitals in England
and Wales, offering treatment to mentally disordered offenders in
conditions of maximum security. The hospital is divided into
five services, Mental Health, Learning Disability, Personality Disorder, Dangerous and Severe Personality Disorder and Women’s Services.

The Psychology Service consists of 32 qualified staff (clinical and forensic) and 28 assistant posts.

Deaf Service/Clinical or Forensic Psychologist
Band 8a or 8b £37,996 - £54,714 plus Higher Environmental
Allowance of £2,913


We are seeking to appoint a Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to join
an enthusiastic and cohesive team of eight qualified Psychologists and
seven Assistant Psychologists within the Mental Health Service.You will
provide clinical input to a ten bedded service for deaf, mentally disordered male patients.You will be expected to provide assessment and
intervention on a single ward where Deaf patients progress from
admission through to discharge.You will work with a strong
multi-disciplinary team, with specialist suppor t from BSL interpreters
and deaf support staff.You will be required to provide clinical
supervision and support to junior psychology staff and other
MDT members.

The Deaf Service is developing both clinically and in terms of
research and you will be given the opportunity to contribute to the
development of the ward in line with it’s therapeutic community ethos,
evaluation of innovative treatment approaches and research.
Although Deaf awareness and BSL is an advantage, it is not essential
as training will be provided.You will be expected to attend regular sign language classes and strive to become proficient in BSL.

You will be given the opportunity to work with hearing patients to
maintain more generic skills. Professional development is supported
and supervision is a priority.
