Kent and Medway.

Substantial new investment from the PCT in the psychological services of Medway Directorate for Secondary Care Adult Mental Health and Older People’s Mental Health means we’re able to take innovative approaches to
enhancing our psychological treatments services. That’s why your ideas and
insights are so important.

The Psychological services are committed to providing support and excellent supervision and to staff deveopment. You can expect flexible working hours and solid administrative support. We have good links with the Christchurch Canterbury University Doctoral Training Course in Clinical Psychology based at David Salomon’s House to which we regularly provide clinical placements
to clinical psychologists in training

As a specialist in your field, you will have a doctorate-level or equivalent BPS
approved qualification in clinical or counselling psychology and substantial
clinical experience. You will hold HPC registration and are likely to be Chartered.

Adult Mental Health Services
Consultant Clinical/
Counselling Psychologist
Band 8c: £53,256 - £65,657 p.a. Ref V129


By providing excellent professional and clinical leadership within the Secondary Care AMH Psychology Service, you will play a significant role in the development of the services. You will provide direct highly skilled clinical psychology input to complex clients presenting with severe and enduring mental health difficulties and you will deliver a highly professional consultative service to the in-patient and community teams.
You will manage Clinical Psychology staff in the intake team, CMHTs and on wards, and Psychological Practitioners in Specialist Psychotherapy (CBT, Family Therapy and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy). The total staff
group is currently 11 posts.

With the 2007 amendment of the Mental Health Act (1983), you will be expected to take on the exciting new clinical leadership role with
the opportunity to train for the statutory role of Approved Clinician/Responsible Clinician.

A successful record of supervising trainees and qualified staff and proven leadership skills are essential.

Principal Clinical/Counselling
Psychologist Specialist In CBT
Band 8b: £44,258 - £54,714 p.a. Ref V128

Specialising in cognitive behavioural therapy(CBT), you will be managing and providing clinical leadership for a specialist service covering the community mental health teams for people with severe and enduring
mental health problems.

You will be managing two other specialist posts in the cognitive behavioural therapy service and be part of a wider secondary care adult mental health service in which there are 13 posts. You will need to evidence having achieved (or nearly achieved) BABCP accreditation in CBT and have good expertise of supervision within this framework.

Working in the busy Medway Assessment and Short Term Treatment Service (MASTT), you will be supported by a Principal Clinical Psychologist already in the service. You will be working in a multi-disciplinary team setting and providing a specialist psychological assessment and brief treatment to adults with severe and enduring mental health difficulties.

Older People’s Mental Health Services

This post offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the first team in the UK to address the requirements of the National Dementia Strategy to enable better care of people with dementia in Acute Hospitals. Working part-time in a multi-disciplinary team for liaison services to the acute hospital you will be involved with providing an assessment and short term treatment service
to people with dementia and their families , as well as participating in staff training to raise standards of care.

The other half of the post will be working as part of the Community Mental Health Team for Older People where you will join five other
psychology staff to develop a comprehensive psychology service for older people with functional and organic problems. An interest in group based therapies will be required.

Graduate Assistant Clinical Psychologist
Band 5: £20,710 - £26,839 p.a. Ref V126


A graduate psychologist with a proven interest in working with older people is required to assist in the work of four qualified clinical psychologists in the Community Mental Health Team for Older People.
The service is innovative and busy, and you will be required to help with group work to support people with dementia, to assist in some therapy work with older people with emotional difficulties and participate in
research and audit projects. A good knowledge of research procedures and computer based SPSS packages are needed.
